Franz asks about experiences with twin camera wide base synchronized
hyper stereos.(whew)!

Here's my method;

I don't think a very long bar is a practical solution. When shooting in
the daytime, I place one camera on a tripod and aim it carefully,
placing the split image line over a particular detail in the scene and
keeping the camera as level as possible.
I hand hold the other camera (Ricoh KR-10m) which is attached by a cable
up to 12 feet long. I view through the hand held camera matching the
composition
much as you would using the run back and forth method. The chosen
shutter speed is high enough so that the hand held chip will be sharp.
All camera functions are set to manual so that everything matches
exactly.

When shooting at night all aspect are the same except that both cameras
are on tripods.

I feel that sychronized hypers are far superior to sequential ones where
something (vehicles, leaves, water) will move between shots. I now find
this quite disturbing. With a little practice, your proceedures become
standardized and there is little chance of failure.

Good luck!
