Dick, I agree with your thoughts of the nature of email and photo-3d.
Photo-3d, like most discussion lists, has the character of informal
conversation which is, IMO, a good supplement of more formal publications,
e.g. Stereo World.

Note, I was talking about ratios, not absolute percentages: Ratio of
women collecting VM vs. stereo views, vs. same ratio for men.
Dan mentioned some women that work in stereo views. I wonder how many of
those are also collectors of antique stereo views. To expand this, I
wonder what percentage of stereo photographers are also stereo collectors
and if this percentage is different for men vs. women. Not that it matter,
but if there are differences I would like to "theorize" on what the basis
for these differences could be. What attracts people to collect things,
especially old photographs?
