In photo-3d 2325 Paul Talbot tells us how much trouble he is having
using the RBT-Spicer mounting method.
The trick is to get down a routine and always do it the same way. You
can always tell which is the emulsion side (dull) and the viewing
side (shiny), also the frame numbers and other data in the sprocket
area is correct from the viewing side and backwards on the emulsion
side. When placing on the RBT always have the emulsion side down and
place them on the Spicer with the viewing window down. The viewing
window is slightly smaller and has rounded corners. It is exactly the
same size as the RBT window so what you see in the RBT window is what
you see in the Spicer window.
Anyway, would there be enough interest for me to make a video tape of
the process? I won't be able to make it to NSA 98 or I would offer to
do a workshop. I would be willing to make one tape and pass it around
or make a copy at cost for anyone who is interested. Just remember
that I am not a professional videographer or even a professional
mounter. I just think it is one of those cases where seeing it done
once brings it all to light.
And, Paul, if you decide to totally give up on the Spicers I will
gladly take them off your hands - at a reasonable discount of course
*{;-)
Thanks for the time,
