Realist Rangefinder Window

How accurate is the Realist center rangefinder
window? Is the aspect ratio of height and width
identical to the film image? I am designing a graduated filter system
for my Realist and I'd like the rangefinder to accurately assist me in
the placement of the filters. Can anyone tell me if the single
rangefinder window is a rough guide or is it fairly accurate? THANKS
