EMDE & Albion

Judging from the volume of overnight emails, there's a lot of questions
about my EMDE products and the Albion mask. The EMDE No. 3300 aluminum
binder was designed to be used with an aluminum mask (such as the
original EMDE masks, now either out of stock/discontinued or with
Stereo Realist, Sigma, or Albion masks) and TWO pieces of cover glass.
It is the standard 1/8 inch thick so to fit the slide carriers of the
1950's stereo slide projectors. Use this when you want to project or
give physical projection to the slide. EMDE glass is due around mid-October,
and I also have anti-Newton ring cover glass in stock.
The EMDE No. 3400 aluminum frame is designed to be a rigid outer holder
for the above masks and does NOT utilize cover glass. The Albion mask,
like the other forementioned masks, isn't really stiff enough to be used
alone although I am sure some do use them that way. There is a
plastic sleeve made for the frame which will give physical
protection to the mask-frame combination, but it is intended only for
hand viewing, not projection. Also, the EMDE No. 3400 frame is much
thinner, and was not meant for projection uses. If you don't crimp the
top and bottom edges of the frame down (to really hold the mask tight)
then you can reuse it.
The advantages of using an all aluminum/glass combination for projection
and archival storage have already been discussed on P3D, check the archives.
The EMDE products are only available directly from me. Contact me
off-list if there's any more questions or if you want a sample.
