Thanks for the summary Dennis.

Another way to moderately protect your slides
is to use the Albion mount in a 3400 frame and
cut one piece of the Reel 3-D acetate plastic
to fit into the frame with the Albion to protect
the emulsion side. (Protects the emulsion side
only, from fingerprints and scratches.)

The channels on the Albion keep the acetate
from touching the emulsion so there is no worry
about newton rings (more a problem on the base
side anyways). Since some air can still get in
there fungus growth in the emulsion shouldn't
be too big a concern. (Not a concern here in the
dry prairies :)

And there are less surfaces to get clean before
assembly (compared to the acetate sleeve or two
glass pieces).

Dennis's plastic sleeves sound like the Reel 3-D
ones so presumably they can be cut up and put in
the frame also.

If others use or like this idea, perhaps we can
talk Dennis into providing plastic strips that
are precut to fit inside the 3400 frame with
an Albion. I'd buy a hundred or two to avoid the
work of cutting up sleeves. Anyone else?

This method also looks nicer than putting a
sleeve over a bare Albion or over the Albion/
3400 combination.
