>In the Calendar section of today's The Hartford Courant newspaper, there=
is
an
article on (excerpts from the article):
"The Palace Rocks in 3D" is a weekend festival of pop-classical movies, a=
ll
transformed into 3-D through a new film process.

Anyone know anything about this 3D process? Is it any good?<
Simple rational thought tells us that what is being promised is impossibl=
e.
A pre-existing movie simply cannot be converted to anything closely
resembling TRUE stereo. However, there are a lot of ways, using a
Pulfrich-type effect involving delayed images, to trick audiences who hav=
e
been pre-conditioned to THINK they're going to see 3D into noticing that
now and again they perceive something in front of or behind something els=
e.
I guarantee that the most important elements of this system are the advan=
ce
hype and the gullibility of the audience.
