re: Linda Nygren observes her second Realist rangefinder is out of
adjustment and asks whether the lens is actually focusing at the
distance indicated by the numbers.  Charles Piper recommends that
if there is ever a question to always rely on the distance markings
on the focus knob, rather than the rangefinder.  Although the focus
could be out of adjustment, it seems the rangefinder is more likely
to be so.

It's not very hard if you know what to do.  I've seen it done, live
and on Jess Powell's Realist repair video tape, but I've never done
it myself so I'm not qualifed to describe the procedure.  I'll let
someone more experienced fill in the details.
