I have enjoyed stereo since childhood and have seen a lot of projection
without ever getting a headache. (Though my deep-set eyes and protuberant
proboscis limit my binocular vision to a relatively narrow cone)

Some of the posts on this list give me a headache, though.  Should I try
tilting my head when reading?
