Stereo-Tach stereo attachment

Does anyone on the list know how to attach the Stereo-Tach splitter to
a camera? I recently acquired a Stereo-Tach. Instead of the
conventional mounting threads that most splitters have, this unit
comes with a bracket that screws into the tripod socket, and a piece
that mounts to the splitter, and somehow fits into the tripod
bracket. I thought this would make it possible to attach to a
point-and-shoot camera without filter threads, but I can'd find a way
to attach it to any camera, threaded or not.

Here's what I have:

o	The splitter itself has a threaded hole into a raised ridge
	on the bottom center.

o	There's a bracket which has a forked bar which seems to fit
around the raised ridge on the splitter. This can be screwed
down with one of the two gnurled thumbscrews that came with
it. This piece has a cylindrical metal rod, about 2.5" long,
coming off the end at a right angle to the forked piece. (Ie,
if the forked part is screwed to the bottom of the splitter,
the rod points up (in front of the splitter), or down.

o	There's a long flat piece with a number of holes along it's
length. At the end, this piece hooks back over itself, and
there's a hole through this doubled-over part which can
fit the metal rod on the forked bracket. This also has a
set screw, presumably to secure the metal rod into the
bracket. The holes presumably allow this piece to be
screwed to the tripod socket of the camera, allowing for
	various lens lengths.

I can think of a way this could all fit together, but it seems awfully
rickety and cumbersome. If anyone has one of these, and knows how
it's supposed to go, I'd really appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks very much,

-pd
