Kodak Camera repair: is mine hopeless?

I am the lucky new owner of a Kodak Stereo camera.  I knew the lens was 
going to be loose but I didn't expect it to be this problem.  One of the
middle lenses, in its housing, is detatched from the "mechanism plate".  I
think this was originally pressure fitted in, then glued in.  My question
is:  I know there is a front and back to the lens, but is there a top and
bottom to the lens?  Can I just file down the outer circumference of the
lens housing until it fits snuggly into the plate, and then epoxy it in
place?  Also, I'm missing a #127737 screw.  Can anyone help me?
