I don't use the sleeves much because of this 6 surface
dust problem. For my expo2 slides I did use the sleeves.
I used a long makeup type brush to reach in from the
edge and dislodge dust while blowing. I don't think
I ever got all the dust off, just the big noticable
stuff.
It is remotely possible that the new sleeve material
is less static prone than the old acetate ones. Maybe
Dalia can tell us.
Most of my slides get left in bare Albions. I used
to put the important ones and ones shared by mail into
the sleeves but dislike the dust problems. My new
method is to use the EMDE frames to hold the Albion
and use a piece of a cut up sleeve to protect the
emulsion side of the slide. It is inserted along with
the Albion mount into the frame.
With this method you have access to both sides of
the sleeve plastic and can get it fairly clean before
assembly. It also looks very nice when assembled. Second
only to glass mounted slides with EMDE binders (though
I don't do glass mounting...no projector.).
