When I develop a roll of Kodachrome I usually have Kodalux develop and
mount it in Dallas. I do it through my local Target discount store. The
first time I had it done with an E-6 roll (before I found a 2 hour lab
that would do it without mounting) and the roll was returned developed
and uncut but unmounted. I complained to the manager of Target and had
it sent back. It returned in 3 days properly mounted. After that the
turnaround time has been between one and two weeks and there have been
no more errors.

They charge $4.50 a roll for 29 slides mounted (this is the same price
they charge for unmounted or ordinary 35 mm slides) and less for shorter
rolls. I understand this is less than they charge for mailers. I find
that having the people at Target act as an intermediary helps with any
problems I have. I understand any store that uses Qualex/Kodalux can
get this service. However, I found that the weak link can be the local
satellite developer. When I had the problem with E-6 the film had gone
to a nearby lab. When I had Kodachrome film processed it went to a lab
further away where they were familiar with stereo slides. Extensive
notes on the film envelope help now.

Currently I do most of my own mounting unless I get behind and am
shooting a lot of Kodachrome.

Hope this helps.
