If you think about it, one person pretty much has to cross arms to
complete a two-handed handshake... Think of it like having to
swap chips when you cut and mount a roll of Realist film. :-)
(In a conventional handshake, you extend your right hand shake the other
person's right hand, thus shaking hands palm-to-palm. If one of you
doesn't cross arms when shaking both hands, you'll be shaking
palm-to-back-of-hand, which doesn't really seem like a handshake to me. As
an alternative to crossing arms, one could turn one's hands palm-out, but I
find it difficult to do *anything* with my arms in this position, never
mind shaking hands.)
