There has been a slight misunderstanding Ray... If you ask those people
they will tell you that it is their VISION and the way they SEE things that
they care about.  They only care about the hardware because that's what
(they feel) affects their perception and they do quantitative measurements
because these (they feel) these explain what they see.

I say "they" because I don't really count myself in this group but I
understand their desire to duplicate the real-world depth perception
through stereo photography and I do not condemn their quantitative
approach.
