I think one major problem is that the people who make the movies never go
out to the movies. They see all their films in the cozy womb-like screening
rooms in the studios where the most conscientious projectionists work with
the most state-of-the-art equipment, and they never see what garbage their
movies look like in the multiplexes where some high school kid strings them
up on the auto-platter before making a new batch of popcorn.
