Any information on *how* to remove the coating on brass would be greatly
appreciated. I have an old set of solid brass andirons, with a coating that
has been partially scorched and blackened. It seems to be immune to an
amazing variety of solvents, and buffing with buffing compound mostly
removes the surrounding brass while having only minor effect on the coating.
At present, they don't look good enough to justify a 3D photograph. :-)
