I have used something similar. Seattle Filmworks (OK you can stop
giggling now) offers a similar "Pictures on Disk" service with
optional Internet delivery (either via your web browser or email). I
found the results varied a great deal.

Some butterfly pictures I took at the Bronx Zoo turned out OK, but
some images I took to illustrate an online article (see
<URL:http://www.aaa.org/articles/copyscope/>) turned out poorly.  All
of the pictures in my article were created with the same lighting set
up and camera in one afternoon, but the color balance varies depending
on which pictures you look at (e.g., check
<URL:http://www.aaa.org/articles/copyscope/lens.html>
vs. <URL:http://www.aaa.org/articles/copyscope/front.html>).  Of
course some of this could be the film (I don't recall what I saw on
the transparencies).

In all cases I thought that the resolution was very low (I prefer high
resolution files that I process down to the required resolution), and
the proprietary format was a pain to deal with (I had to load DOS
software on my wife's PC and convert files for further work on my
SPARC).
