As long as the posting don't degenerate into outright hostilities then I do
actually believe these 'robust' exchanges are the strength of listservers
such as P3D. ;-)

One of the postings mentioned a 'near to far' depth of field in strong light.
I would suggest that if the computing power is good enough to do real-time
defocusing, then the amount of defocusing required should not really be a
problem to control. It could make a 'best fit' adjustment but allow manual
adjustment for over/under exposed images (or techno-phobics who like like their
images sharp ;->).

Another poster mentioned '2 fingers' when focusing past 1 finger into the 
distance, again this should only be image processing.

P.S. Although I work with computers I am not at the bleeding edge of graphics
technology, I write programs for an insurance company to work out what you
