Buy a DOZEN cheapie viewers.  When family & friends come over, everybody gets
their own viewer and it is much more fun.  Scrambling for the best light adds
to the festivity.  People sit in other people's laps to get close to the table
lamp.  Take a picture of your friends, and give it to them with their own
viewer.  

Once your wife sees how everybody flips over stereo, she will ENCOURAGE you to
buy a good Dr. T viewer.

True story: I got married to a woman from another state, and by her minister. 
He had had never met me, and insisted on a pre-wedding interview. After
getting totally involved in a family stereo picture fest when he showed up at
the house he deemed the interview unnecessary.
