First, this is a new type of machine, and second, what seems to be
misunderstood is that the film in question was sent through checked
baggage. The X-ray scanners for checked baggage have *always* been
stronger than those for carry-on. This new machine is more akin to a
medical CT scanner (in fact is derived from that technology), and uses a
particularly strong dose of X-rays to cause explosives to give off a
characteristic signature which it is designed to detect.
So, like Bob said, don't check your film through in your baggage; hand
carry it.
