Well, maybe.  If you just use them "as is" you can save a lot of time.
But then you have a window set at infinity.  If you want to set a
good stereo window, and mount your 2x2 pairs for projection, it gets
a little tougher.  I've never done it myself, but at NSA Southwest
last year someone projected some 2x2 pairs.  He mentioned that it
takes him 15 minutes(!) each (each pair is what I would guess he was
saying) to mask the slides for projection with the proper window.
Of course there is probably a wide range of "mounting speeds" among
folks doing 2x2.
