Well, I thought I was finished commenting on this subject, but I guess
I'm not. Why don't we just back off and relax. It ain't broke, it
doesn't need fixing. When Dr. T stepped in to stop the computer
discussion he was within his brief but perhaps a bit abrupt. Maybe he
was tired and testy, lord knows he ought to be, he must be about the
second busiest man in the US. . I know that I lead a pretty
lackadaisical life by comparison and I was tired when I read his cease
and desist notice and I took it incorrectly.
But we all have things that we are interested in and things we don't give
a damn about. I enjoy hearing about new techniques and home built rigs,
but my eyes glaze over when an endless thread on competition judging
begins, But just because I don't care about or enjoy slide competition
discussion, that doesn't mean it doesn't belong here. It means that all
I have to do is read the subject line and skip what doesn't interest me.
Digital imaging will probably prevail. It is better to evolve into it
than to fight it. Some time back I defended a conservative view of
english usage and was castigated by those who felt the language's
ability to evolve is what keeps it strong. There was right on both sides
of the discussion.
Let's just "relax, have a few beers and listen to the music," and leave
things the way they were to begin with. (See, an unattributed quotation
and a sentence ending in a preposition, I'm evolving, I'm evolving).
I am now putting away my whip and having the horse dragged off to the
Jello factory.
