HP ScanJet Slide Adapter Results!
The adapter arrived, and I've been busy scanning for the
last 2 hours.
The results area little disappointing. Using the Scanjet
IICX at
600 dpi (the highest real resolution), I scanned a nice
Realist format
slide. (If you get 2 adapters, you can put one below the
other and
get both sides without moving the slide. You will have to
have a program
to rotate the images 90 degrees, and the auto features of my
scanning
software did not work as well as with prints, so it took a
lot of adjusting
in Corel Photopaint. Had to adjust contrast, brightness,
saturation, and
color balance, as well as the dreaded gamma.
It still doesn't look as good as the prints I have scanned,
but I put it at the bottom of my ViewMaster/3D web page
so you could compare.

Maybe someone with a better scanner or lots of patience
can get better results, but I don't think it would suit most
of the
perfectionists in this group. I'll try one in cardboard
mounts later, as
this one was in RBT. Maybe it would be a little better
closer to
the glass.
Oh well, I guess it's worth $5!!!

P.S. The adapter is a 45-45-90 plastic triangle with crude
mirrors (metal)
on each side of the right angle. (As I imagine everyone
guessed from
the picture)
