P3D May 5th 1998 - One year OSPS!

Dear Friends,

In exactly one week from today (May 5th) the O-hi-O Stereo Photographic
Society will hold its May meeting.  This is an important occasion for us
because we celebrate our first year anniversary.  Our club had its first
meeting on May 6th, 1997.  It has been a very exiting year for me and I
hope many others too.

We plan to celebrate our first year anniversary by opening a bottle of
(non-alcoholic!) sparkling wine and cutting a cake.  Everybody is invited
to visit us in Cleveland, if not for the cake, at least for the great
program that we have planned for the night!

Billy Turner is visiting from Detroit to present his judging seminar:  "How
the Judges Look at Pictures".  Many of us will debate the existence of
universally accepted "good pictures", the role of judges, competitions,
etc.  But before making up our minds, we should first listen to those with
experience.  And Billy Turner has plenty of experience.  He has been with
PSA for 38 years, 26 of which actively involved in stereo.  He has competed
in almost every PSA division and has accumulated some 600 medals so far.  I
understand that he is universally acknowledged for his fine B&W (2D)
printwork.  He has taught photography for over 35 years and has been active
with the Detroit Stereographic Society and other photography clubs in the
Detroit area for many years.  With a 5 star rating in stereo he is
certainly most qualified to present this program and we are happy to have
him with us!

The second part of the meeting will feature the last stereo slide
competition of the year with "Open" subject.  As always, we will have 3
judges score AND CRITIQUE all the slides.

It is going to be a fun night and I hope to see many of you there!  Email
