The two colours used in the anaglyph image should be complementary.
The coloured filters used to view the image should match the colours
used to produce the image.
So, the coice of filters to use in viewing a CRT would depend on the
colours being generated by the display tube.
Likewise, filters should match inks/dyes used in preparing a paper
image.
The filters should completely occlude the complementary colour in
order to accomplish the desired result - i.e. present apparently
different images to each eye from viewing the composited image.

So, the "ideal" colours for filtres are the ones which meet those
criteria. (?)
