But Tom, not everyone is instinctively and automatically capable of
writing an article worthy of publication, and one thing it ISN'T an
editor's job to do is take an amateurish,  badly-written article and
pull it up to acceptable standards.

(By the same token, I'm perfectly happy to open jars and cans, run the
disposal, take out the trash, etc., but you wouldn't want to sample my
cooking...)
