P3D New Multi-format Viewer

Hi Gang,
Although I have the reputation for making new stereo cameras out of old mono
cameras, I'm actually hoping in the next little while to pursue 3d projects
that may actually go into a limited production run.
The first one I'd like to try is a multi-format, precision stereoscope.
I now have a "rough" prototype up at:

But first let me let me explain why this is not posted on SELL-3D, then I'll
get into the details of the viewer. This viewer is NOT for sale, nor have
any production runs been made. What I am asking all P3D readers is whether
there is enough interest in pursuing such a venture.
I have been involved with stereoscopy since 1974, and have always felt that
the field lacked variety as well as versatility when it came to stereo
equipment. As a collector of views this is particularity evident, as there
are so many different formats, with little choice in a convenient way to
view them. I also despise the notion that things have to be cheap and
plastic to be able to compete in today's marketplace.
My design of this stereoscope came out of the need for a precision quality
stereoscope that could accommodate a variety of different sizes of stereo
card stock. Here are the features:
* It can be used for prints as well as slides. Light source can be
steal-the-light or electric.
* It can accept any size card stock up to 140mm wide. Individual stereo
pairs in 2x2 mounts, as well as 2 1/4 format can also be viewed.
* Interchangeable lenses accommodate 5p stereo format up to 70mm pairs.
* There is an inter ocular adjustment to adjust for various stereo bases and
eye widths.
* Focus adjustment goes from 40mm to 105mm ( currently )
* The viewer can be used with its tilting pedestal, or a wooden hand grip.
Appearance wise, I'd rather the viewer NOT look modern, as I prefer the
style of turn-of-the-century brass optical devices, such as microscopes and
telescopes. It will be solid brass and stainless steal, as the prototype now is.
How much? NOTHING is written in stone. I would hope that I could offer a
limited production run of 15 - 20 for around $750, depending on interest,
machinability of the final design, and what features and accessories will be
included.
Any interest out there? I'm not looking for orders, only opinions. Please
email me privately any questions you may have.
Regards,
Sam
PS: And yes, patents will be pending.
