Hi Bill,
I didn't want to bother you with a frivolous request, but it seems that
the options available and the flexibility of this unit is more than I
envisioned. If you could find a manual and forward me a copy, I would
very much appreciate it. My address is:

I enjoyed your web page and learned a lot about the various models of
cameras, but not enough and you did ask for suggestions :-)
I found that the threads giving camera details were not surprisingly
varied in the amount and type of detailed offered. What would have been
valuable to me is a brief summary of the range of settings, for example,
in some cases it is not apparent whether a camera is fixed focus. I'm
thinking of a very abreviated summary on the line for each camera such
as :
var 1+; B,1/2 - 1/200; f/3.5 - /f16
fixed; 1/60; F/8
While I have no experience worth discussing in old stereo cameras, I
have had to use and still do old 35mm. I prefer focus adjustment, and
am sometimes frustrated by the inability of some older cameras to handle
relatively fast film. I prefer to retain the option of using available
light. Until recently, the only flash in the house is on my wife's
autofocus!
I gather the Realist is popular, but since my interests lie in
Holmescards (somewhat) and digital imaging (a whole lot), the advantages
of all the Realist support for stereo slide technology is not an issue
with me. I would appreciate your opinion on what model of stereo
camera(s) would be a good choice for me when I finally save up at least
$100-200 US. I would want the variable focus, and ideally a good range
of exposure times and aperture settings. I would be looking for a good,
working camera, not a collectable. You guess as to price range would
also be helpful.
Sure want a lot from your time!
I am working on a 110 twin rig, very low cost but with mechanically
synchronized shutters and flash option. The cameras will be mounted in
portrait mode, side by side, so that the flash units are at the same
height and a baseline of 40+mm can be achieved. I plan a fixed 65mm
baseline first. I realize that the 13x17 negative has it's limits and
the film types are very limited. But I've bought the cameras (on sale
two new "Crayolas" for under $10 US!) but none the less would be
interested in any other approaches available to the dexterity challenged
hobbyist.
Thanks again for you time, interest and advice.
John
