I learned of Xenon lamps through caving or spelunking (at
least I was told they are Xenon). The ones I have were
originally made for headlamps and are very bright and very
white. I get them from a company which makes bulbs.

I am working on a fluorescent AC viewer (tabletop). It will
use the cheaper lights which are subsidized by power
companies. I modify them from socket borne flourescents.
I'm told their is a source for cheap battery powered
flourescents but I haven't found it.
Has anyone out there made a viewer using LED's? I'm told
this may work and they don't draw many amps but I'm not
convinced that they can be made to be bright enough.
