I am not sure I fully agree with this.  Yes, sometimes the images are
slightly overlapping or separated.  But when a pair if exposed, there is
film in-between the two exposed images.  This in-between film does not
get streched or curled.  I believe the entire film strip gets shifted
horizontally by slight amounts.  If the film is always cut at the exact
same location between perforations then the stereo window will always be
at the same location, even if the entire image is slightly shifted (this
amount of shift is easily masked by the mount).

I believe that what causes the wide variability in the location of
the stereo window in stereo slides mounted by Kodalux is the inability
to cut the strips at the same location between perforations and to
center them in the mounts.  This is surprising, given the use of automated
equipment.  I have seen the film chips and I know that the cut is not
always at the same location between perforations.  Why?  I don't know...
Could it be that they do not use automated equipment?  Maybe a guy with
a pair of scissors? :-)
