Well, where d'you want to draw the line?  Bare minimum requirement is a
camera & good control of the ocular muscles; that's all I used for a few
years before finding out there were stereo cameras to be had.

I generally recommend the ViewMagic as a first buy for people who want to
try stereo out withhout spending much, partly for the booklet that comes
with it.
