P3D Democracy & Club Competition Projection

Common! Democracy in a stereo club? When was the last time that more
than one people ran for any officer position? Usually, those with the
skills and experience are guiding the rest. Haven't you heard people
calling the "Ohio Stereo Photographic Society", "DrT's club"? There is
a good reason for this! :-)

Seriously, if someone asks to adjust the projector during the competition,
the answer will be a clear "no" if I am in the controls. There is no issue
of voting here. It is simply wrong and I am in charge. When someone else
is in charge with different philosophy of projection then he or she can make
the calls. But, after an entire brand new club has been used to flawless
and enjoyable projection for a year now, I doubt that anyone would want to
change things.

I am sorry but I am still puzzled by this. If I have a picture of a
sunset and the sun is "ghosting" (as expected) when placed at infinity
(where the separation of L and R image is at maximum), I always have the
option to mount my pair so that the sun is at window level. This way it
will show no ghosting because the two images of the sun will be overlapping.
The fact that the maker chose to leave the sun at infinity tells me that
he/she accepts the consequences. Why mess up with the projector so I can
screw up the window of this slide and also the window of the slide that
follows???

So, when the crowds are calling to "minimize the ghosts" did anyone ask
the maker of the slide? If it is my slide projected, I don't want anyone
screwing around with the horizontal adjustment. If the maker agrees that
the projector should be adjusted to minimize ghosting, then they should be
asked why didn't they mount the slide properly in the first place.

As Andrea said, let's work on better education. Workshops on stereo mounting
and stereo projection. Teach people to mount slides the way they want to see
them projected. Adjust horizontal spacing during mounting as desired, for
best stereo window and minimum ghosting. What you have is what you will see
in projection. No messing around with the controls!
