P3D RE:Where have all the View Masters gone?
After torturi.... errrrr.... AMUSING us with his witty rendition of a 3-D
folk song, Brian Reynolds asks why it seems to be so hard to find new
"off-the-shelf" View Master reels, gift packs, etc...
I've been having the same sorta problems. I DID manage to get the Hot
Wheels reels and the Barbie reels. A few weeks later, my mother bought me
the Barbie Gift Pack (complete with pink viewer) as a "You're a Daddy Again"
(see footnote) present.
A friend of mine found the Hot Wheels Gift Pack with the "silver"
viewer,
and grabbed one for me.
I think that Mattel will probably do more to push their View Master
products. It seems that they're still in a transitional stage, since buying
VM from Tyco.
It's true that the people in the stores know nothing about what's going
on. The only ones who might know, are the buyers, and they probably have
just a few buyers for all stores.
It seems I've been very lucky to get these things, lately. I even
ordered
some Spice Girls viewers from Dddalia. (They're cool) Now I need to rent
an
apartment just to store all of my viewers in!
In any case... If we all sit tight, I think that we'll start seeing more
and more VM stuff in the not too distant future.
I'm an optimist.
