P3D Slave flash
In Digest 2838 Charlie Hotchkiss wrote :
Years ago I did a lot of Polaroid photography and I used slave flashes as
a simple way to augment the weak units available for the instant cameras.
I had a exquisitely simple, dirt cheap circuit to make slave triggers.
I lost it, but now I've found it again. The problem is Radio Shack
doesn't seem to have (or even be aware of) the main part.
Can anybody help he find a 200 volt light activated silicon controlled
rectifier?
The only other part needed is a 47,000 ohm 1/2 watt resistor.

I remember those simple circuits. I soldered a lot of them, not
only for myself, but also for a couple of (camera)friends.
I also remember putting small flash-units in lamp shades to get
a 'natural' effect in interior pictures made with a wide-angle
lens. And I found one of those things back tonight, built in a
35mm film cannister. It's a simple circuit indeed: Only two parts.
An SCR and a resistor. I have some numbers (on the SCR) which may
help you : 7310 DE1028. What I can't remember is where they came
from. Either Radio Shack or some electronic surplus shop in
London (or Edmund Scientific ?). I'll try to find out for you,
Charlie and for everybody else who might be interested (but I'll
go on holiday first, accompanied by friends like R. Ealist and
R. Evere). These units used to do their job very well, up
to 20 meters. Work with reflected light as well.
Thanks for your time
Peter
