P3D Help! TDC Colorist II take up reel slipping

Please excuse me if my terminology is incorrect.  On vacation my TDC
Colorist II began to have problems advancing the film.  By the end of a
roll it was slipping quite regularly and it did not advance a new roll
of film at all.  On closer examination it appeared that the camera take
up reel ( the reel that takes up the film) would not turn with the
slightest bit of pressure.

My question is can this be fixed by a user or should I start searching
for some to repair the camera immediately?
