Regarding chalk, crayons, ChromaDepth viewers and toys.  My wife
recently worked for a few weeks in Abingdon, Virginia.  They have a
lively arts community there and a local gallery features the following
artist:

So no medium is so playful that someone won't put it to serious
grown-up use at some point!
