P3D Buffalo Bob Smith passed away

Since Roy Rogers made it to P3D, I thought I would
express my sadness over the passing of this Pop Culture
Icon:
Buffalo Bob Smith passed away on July 30th at the age of 80. The
Buff had created Howdy Doody, who starred in several
View-Master reels and even an anaglyph premium for Ludenís
(which recently went for $403.00 in a Lelandís auction). Now that I
have tied all this into 3D, I must say that I will miss my good
buddy.
I am also a member of The Doodyville Historical Society. I
met Buffalo Bob (and Clarabell) in 1973. I wrote and talked to him
on numerous occasions over the years. I tried to stay in contact
with him and he always replied to my letters.
Several years ago at a convention on the East Coast, he recognized
me, called me by name and gave me a giant hug! Besides really
impressing the people I was with, it made me feel really great. He
was always on in public, trying to put a little sunshine in people's
lives. In private he was just as caring.
At 80, he lived a full life. I certainly will miss this wonderful
individual. The Howdy Doody marionettes which surround me as
I type this, seem to not be smiling as big at the moment.
Now back to the our regularly scheduled programing.
Thanks for the time,
Lawrence Kaufman, mailto:kaufman3d@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
