P3D Re: VM & Kids
I was looking at the terrific anaglyphs of the Alps mentioned in the
last digest when my grand-daughter climbed on my lap. She has just
turned four. "Whatcha lookin' at, Grampa?" "Here," I said, "Look at
this." I arranged the screen so that the first screen of the Alps views
was showing, the one with both the anaglyph and the flattie of the same
scene appearing at the same time. Then I put the National Geographic
glasses over her eyes, and asked her, "Tatiana, what is the difference
between these two pictures?"
She looked just a moment, then pointed to the anaglyph and said, "That
one is FAR!" I said, "Is part of it farthest?" "Yes." "Show me what
part is really far." She touched the distant mountain peak on the
anaglyph. "Now show me the part that is up close." She touched the
foreground of the anaglyph. "Grandpa?" "Yes, Tatiana?" "Will you come
down now and read me the story about the dragon?" End of session.
