P3D Slide scanners

Has anyone tried one of the new(?) HP Photo scanners.  They are reported
to scan at 2400 dpi for slides and film and 600 dpi for images up to 5x7.
There was review in Popular Photography this month.  It retails for about
$300 but they are offering a $100 rebate.
