Shu Bills original post was about a device to take stereo pictures of the
iris of the eye . As I said I would I have cheked on some information I
have about the stereo fundus camera. The fundus is the medical term for the
bottom of the eye and it is designed to take stereo photographs through the
pupil of the inside of the eye but perhaps could be focussed onto the
surface of the eye.
There is an illustration of one in Wim (not Tim) Van Keulen,s book "3D Past
And Present" on page 24. Essentialy its a horizontal binocular stereo
microscope the patient sits at one end and the operator at the other. The
camera attatched looks like an SLR so presumably stereo half frames are
taken the seperation is just a few mm. There is nothing to say whether it
is zoom or stepped or a single magnification. Recently someone on this list
enquired about a device sounding similar to this which they said had a
variable base ,so presumably variable magnification moving in closer to the
subject. Someone-else even replied that they had one and gave a webb site
address for some information on it. Unfortuneately I canot find those posts
aand may have deleted them. P.J.Homer
