P3D National Geographic 3D issue

The August 3D issue of National Geographic has finally hit Australian
shores. It was sent to subscribers last week. Unfortunately, shops
currently only have the June issue on their shelves...

One thing that I was bemused to realise is that the anaglyph 3D images have
been constucted using red and green inks, but the glasses which have been
provided in the magazine are red and blue (or slightly cyan).

With the provided glasses most of the images exhibit quite a lot of
ghosting. If you have other pairs of glasses available, try to find a pair
which
are red and cyan - IMAX/OMNIMAX "We are born of stars" 3D glasses.
They are definitely red/cyan.

The 3D images in the magazine appear MUCH better with the red/cyan glasses.
This applies to both the pseudo-monochrome images and the pseudo-colour
images.

It really surprises me that National Geographic would distribute 9.5 million
copies of the magazine with inferior glasses.

If I get time I'll do a spectral analysis of the glasses and report my
findings.

Cheers,
Andrew Woods. http://info.curtin.edu.au/~iwoodsa
