learned a great deal about shooting stereos from him and other
experienced
club members. Can you imagine how much money, time and dedication --
not to
mention the skill and expertise it must of taken him to earn this
rating? It
amounts to over 220 different titles and over 788 acceptances at PSA
sanctioned exhbitions over 30 + years! Nonetheless, he gives his advice
feely
to me and he even sold the projector to me for his cost of $300 with the
nice
-- harder to find -- 4" lenses. He could have gotten more $$ out of
it, but
he knew I would make good use of it as a HOBBYIST. You on the other
hand,
George, justify making a profit to support your "hobby". It makes me
wonder
about your true motives. Are you in it for the love of a hobby -- or
is
this a business? I suppose a real "litmus" test would be whether you
write-
off your expenses to say --- the NSA/PSA conferences on your taxes.

I do have a "thought" for you. Why don't you start a
"Businessman's-3D"
and you and the rest of the people on this forum who want to dicuss
money-
making ideas on 3-D can exchange your profit-making ideas there and keep
them
off of this forum. I for one would certainly appreciate it.<<

You know Steve, a while ago I got interested in stereo photography. To
find out more about stereo photography I searched on the net. I found
P3-D and a wonderful bunch of people who willingly suffer through the
repeated questions of other newbies who find the site on a regular
basis. Dr. T was the first to welcome me. Since then, he has answered
countless e-mails from me both on P3-D and off list. It so happens I
purchased a TDC projector myself getting a *really good bargain* from a
friend. I e-mailed Dr. T about it (it needed some work) and he told me
to send it to him. I did and he made it like new and sent it back. The
charge? $0. I insisted that he let me pay him. Nope. He has on
occassion let me purchase items at cost. I could go on but I think I
made my point. I am sure he has done other favors for others on this
list as well. So I wouldn't dream of begruding him an opportunity to
support his hobby.

I have a thought for you, Steve. Before questioning the "true motives"
of others, it might be a good idea to realize that you don't know
everything that is going on with them. Some people don't feel the need
to brag about all the nice things they do. The only problem with that
is it makes someone like you question their dedication.

As for the profit-making ideas that you want banished from the list, Dr.
T is not the only one who "tests the waters" here on P3-D. Also, I for
one like to see what others are thinking of producing or are producing
for sale to members on this list. They have requested our opinions in
order to make their product better for us. For that, I am grateful.
How many times have any of us purchased a product and thought -If only
they had just. . .

I thought this list was about exchanging ideas. If someone wants to
*invent* or *offer* something, they can ask everyone on this list
(before going to any expense) for opinions such as:
Does it already exist somewhere else?
Any suggestions to make it better?
Is there a market for it or am I the only one that wants one?
These questions do have a place on P3-D IMHO.
