I have been puzzled by this statement.  Can you explain it a bit?
How did the 50 degrees come about?  When I look straight, my vision
is very clear at the center and fades gradually away from it.  If
I am allowed to move the eyes (but not the head) I can certainly
see much more than 50 degrees.
