P3D Collecting

Bob Makey asked if anyone collects
advertising stereo slides.
Two comments:
Judging from the prices achieved by
such sets when they appear at auction
I'm sure there must be a number of
collectors.
Also I'm surprised(now Bob mentions it)
how many of the stereoviewers I've bought
at camera shows etc have come with
advertising or promotional slides.
Of the 4 Stereolists (English copy of
the Realist red button) I've picked up in
the last couple of years 3 came in a box with
what were clearly promotional or
commercial slides- one for a steel works;
one for adverstising hoardings;one for
leather coats. Also two coronet viewers
came with this sort of material- one
advertising cruises on a liner;one selling
cars.
Similarly the number of commercial/advertising
VM reels to have appeared on the market
recently shows what a lot of organisations were
impresed by the selling power of stereo.
I recently showed some stereo slides to a friend who
knew nothing of 3D. He is involved on the advertising
side of car sales. He immediately commented- these
would be perfect for marketing- your find yourself
really looking at the image, not just glancing at
it .
Kind regards,
John Bradley
