Very good point Ray!
It took some experimentation from my side when I first got started.
Any attempt to cut off monocular depth cues to stress out parallax
stereopsis, resulted in a poor 3D image. The most succesful stereo
pictures, IMO, are those where lots of monocular cues support stereopsis.
As an extreme example, many pseudo stereos where monocular cues
contadict stereoscopic parallax they are not accepted by the brain.
In other words, you don't have a picture, you just have a mess!
