P3D Paltry splinters vs robust main board

I never sub*scribed to Sell-3D because I didn't feel like I was "in the
market" for anything (and I understand I have missed a few things I'd like
to have had as a result). I did sub*scribe to the computer spin-off, and
maybe once a week I'll get a paltry little digest with a meagre message or
two, leaving me asking what's the big, important need to keep this
segregated from the main board? I understand that the technical discussion
spin-off has even less traffic. I feel the same way about splintering the
group into all these highly focused, specialized mini-groups as I feel
about using arbitrary words to filter out huge chunks of the main board--it
does a major disservice to readers, and it intimidates writers. I'm sure
it's a lot of extra work for Bob maintaining a dozen tiny little boards
with a tiny bit of traffic each than maintaining one big, robust board with
a lot of traffic. And I think the very diversity of the large board makes
its contents a lot more viable, too. Sure there are people who want every
single word of every single message to be of riveting personal interest to
them, but it ain't going to happen. In the meantime, by insisting on
peeling away anything and everything that doesn't appeal to them
personally, they are slowly eviscerating the whole function of the board.
