P3D Another still motion tracking shot

There's another use of the "still motion tracking shot" in a commercial on
Los Angeles television currently, and unlike the famous GAP jitterbug
commercial, this one demonstrates what can happen when directors simply use
what's hot without thinking through WHY it's hot. The commercial is for
Kyser Permanente Hospital, and shows a mother in labor. Suddenly the camera
swings around the scene. I had watched the commercial probably a couple of
dozen times before I was even aware that the actors were frozen in place
during the camera movement. There's nothing suspended in space, no obvious
and attention-grabbing reason for using the effect. The actors merely
appear to be standing there. Given the expense and complexity of such a
shot, it's preposterous. It doesn't add anything; it doesn't even call
attention to itself. Apparently some "suit" somewhere just said, "Hey,
everybody loves that GAP commercial, let's use that same rig in some shot
in our commercial!"
