I think that you should lightly sand or abrade the contact down to the
brass.  These contacts are usually chrome or nickel plated brass and,
having sanded to the brass you will find that the brass contacts won't
stay clean as long as the chrome/nickel plated contacts will.

You don't have much choice unless the corrosion is on top of, rather has
become a part of the chrome/nickel.
