Hey- I still haven't grown up, so I qualify to respond to the
challenge. Why just yesterday, I was standing in--, well let's just say
the room was mostly tiled, "staring into space" (accomodated and
converged at infinity) at the wall and felt suddenly very disoriented.
Upon reflection (mental) I realized that I was looking at a pattern of
white tiles and grout, which, interestingly were on two planes, at
different distances (actually it was a vertical wall, a horizontal
shelf, and another vertical wall behind the shelf, further away by about
12 inches). The lighting was completely diffuse, eliminating any shadow
clues, so the only difference between the near and far section of the
wall was the smaller angle of subtense of these tiles, and, of course,
the usual parallax. I'm telling you it was a terrific sensation. As
soon as I knew what I was looking at, the disorienting factor completely
disappeared. Ah, the idle mind is the Devil's playground-
